Specialised Mine Services (Pty) Ltd. (1996)
To whom it may concern

In 1990 the “Scem 66” water control system was first introduced to Australia from South Africa at Pasminco Broken Hill Mine no 5 Shaft construction. This patented system use modified emulsions to control the inflow of ground water into mine opening as well as the flow of water through concrete in buildings where basements are below the water table.

In 1991 the Australian rights to the patent was leased to Sovereign Water Control Australia Pty. Ltd. Various projects of water sealing was successfully carried out at Roxby Downs, Kambalda, Scuddles, Emerald, Brighton Novatel Hotel and Rosebery in Tasmania. The use of this “Knowhow” facilitated the completion of projects where other methods failed.

In 1995 the undersigned, as principal of Sovereign decided to retire from further active mining work. The Australian rights to the patent was relinquished. The patent holders then appointed Hydroseal Pty. Ltd. to serve the Australian Mining and Construction industry.

I have no doubt that this technology is essential to the industry and that millions of dollars have already been saved by the application of the system.

It is essential that the application of the system be applied by people with sufficient knowledge of water control methods.
